The Music of Annabelle Chvostek

By THIRSTY

Annabelle Chvostek began her musical career in Montreal, performing regularly in Le Boudoir, a queer, feminist 1920s-inspired cabaret series. In 2004, she joined The Wailin' Jennys and wrote four songs for their multi-award-winning album, Firecracker, that stayed on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart for 69 weeks, topping out at #2.

After departing from the Jennys, she released three albums: Resilience (2008), Rise (2012) and Be The Media (2015). Rise was nominated for a Juno Award in the "Roots and Traditional Album of the Year" category, and both Rise and Resilience were nominated in the category of "Contemporary Album of the Year" for Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Stay Thirsty Magazine learned about Chvostek's work and her indomitable spirit in the face of hardship, and we were impressed by her latest album, String Of Pearls, that focuses on getting through difficult times and coming out on top. Her music and her spirit are infectious (in a good way) and we are excited to feature two of her videos, String Of Pearls and Belleville Rendez-Vous, that will leave you wanting more.
