Hongni Wu, a mezzo-soprano, was one of five people to win the 2018 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in New York this past April. A Professional Studies degree candidate at Manhattan School of Music (MSM), she is currently studying with Joan Patenaude-Yarnell. In the Spring of 2017, she earned her Masters in Music (Voice) from MSM, having studied with Ashley Putnam, after completing her B.A. in Voice from Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, China.

In her brief career, she has performed the roles of Cenerentola (Rossini: La Cenerentola); Sesto (Mozart: La Clemenza di Tito; Prince Orlofsky (J. Stauss II: Die Fledermaus); La Libellule (Ravel: L’Enfant et les Sortilèges); Carmen (Bizet: Carmen) and Mrs. Umeya (Qingling Song).

After graduating from MSM, she will join the Royal Opera House’s Jette Parker Young Artist Programme in London for the next two years.
