Julia Brennan self-released her first songs on
YouTube and iTunes, and a week later, she sent her song “Inner Demons” to the
local pop radio station in Minneapolis (KDWB-FM). The station called her on air
and played a minute of her song.
The feedback she received was so positive that
she decided to leave her freshman college dorm the day before her first class,
and a few days later, she signed a recording contract with Columbia Records for
an EP entitled Inner Demons.
Having taken piano lessons since the age of 4,
Brennan claims her influences as Adele, Sam Smith, Elvis’ version of “Can’t
Help Falling In Love” and Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
Recorded in Nashville last December, her song “Inner
Demons” has registered over 2.6 million views on YouTube. It was based on her
relationship with a friend who was experiencing family issues.
