The Stay Thirsty Magazine Show

New York Times Bestselling Author Jean Hanff Korelitz &
Pulitzer Prize Poet Paul Muldoon

By THIRSTY

Throughout literary history, there are only a handful of husbands and wives who, each in their own right, were extraordinary writers. Percy Bysshe Shelley and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Sayre, and Ernest Hemingway and Martha Gelhorn come quickly to mind. Today, we are fortunate to have Paul Muldoon and Jean Hanff Korelitz.

Muldoon, the author of fourteen full-length collections of poetry, won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry and the T. S. Elliot Prize. A prolific writer and an esteemed Professor at universities from Oxford to Princeton, he was also the Editor of The Lyrics by Paul McCartney that became a #1 New York Times bestseller in 2021.

Muldoon has been described by The Times Literary Supplement as "the most significant English-language poet born since the second World War." Roger Rosenblatt, in The New York Times Book Review, described him as "one of the great poets of the past hundred years, who can be everything in his poems - word-playful, lyrical, hilarious, melancholy. And angry. Only Yeats before him could write with such measured fury."

Jean Hanff Korelitz is the multi-time New York Times bestselling author of eight novels: one that was made into a movie (Admission); one that was adapted by HBO into a television series (The Undoing); and, one that is being made into a dramatic television series by Hulu (The Plot), which was also New York Times Notable Book of 2021.

Married since 1987, Muldoon and Korelitz adapted James Joyce’s The Dead as an immersive theatrical event entitled, The Dead, 1904. The play was produced by Dot Dot Productions, LLC, for the Irish Repertory Theatre and performed at New York's American Irish Historical Society for seven-week runs in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Stay Thirsty Magazine has no doubt that history will record them to be among the great writers of the 20th and 21st centuries and The Stay Thirsty Magazine Show was honored to host Jean Hanff Korelitz and Paul Muldoon for their first ever joint interview.
