Thirsty Magazine is pleased to present this trailer from Manhattan
School of Music’s recent production of La
Cenerentola, ossia La bontà in trionfo (Cinderella, or the triumph of goodness)
with music by Gioachino Rossini and libretto by Jacopo Ferretti to highlight
the extraordinary talents of the next generation of opera professionals.
STORYLINE:
Some years before, Cinderella
suffered the loss of her father. In order to give her daughter security, her
mother married the widower Don Magnifico, who brought to the household his own
two daughters, Clorinda and Tisbe. Shortly after, her mother also passed away.
The spendthrift Don Magnifico lavished his stepdaughter’s inheritance on his
own daughters and reduced Cinderella to the role of household servant.
