By THIRSTY
Australian Mezzo Soprano Amy Yarham is a Master's Degree candidate at Manhattan School of Music. Opera News described her as "charming, sensitive" and The New York Times wrote that "her mezzo bright and agile, led an excellent large cast" in the 2016 Manhattan School of Music Opera Theater’s production of L'Enfant et les Sortilèges (L’Enfant) conducted by the Metropolitan Opera’s Pierre Vallet and directed by Opera Theatre of Saint Louis' James Robinson.
Yarham made her New York debut in
the chamber opera Albert Herring
(Nancy) and in The Dangerous Liaisons
(Victoire), both Manhattan School of Music productions. Her previous credits include Giulio Cesare (Sesto) and The
Cunning Little Vixen (Lapák) under the baton of Maestro J. David Jackson
with the Trentino Music Festival in Italy, Little
Women (Meg) with Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and La clemenza di Tito (Annio) with the
Manhattan School of Music Opera Theater.
This past summer Ms. Yarham was awarded a scholarship
to participate in the Chautauqua Institution's Voice program. Her previous
awards include a full tuition scholarship to participate in the Lisa Gasteen
National Opera School in Brisbane, Australia.
Because Amy Yarham’s operatic
career holds much promise, Stay Thirsty
Magazine is pleased to name her our SPOTLIGHT artist for Winter 2017 and to
highlight her growing success.
